Sample report · run August 22, 2026

What the free audit actually hands you.

Most "free audits" are a sales call with a PDF stapled to it. This is the emailed half of the audit, unedited: 30 checks, which produced 38 findings across 16 areas, plus the manual Google Business Profile checklist, with what each one means and why it matters. The instant half runs on the page the moment you enter your address. To avoid publishing a teardown of someone else's business, the site audited here is my own, the previous version of craftvane.com, before the rebuild you are reading now.

It found two failures on my own site. Both were the same root cause: there was no phone number anywhere on the homepage. For a local business that is the single most expensive thing to leave off a page, and I had left it off mine. That is fixed now, on every page, which you can check at the bottom of this one.

Nothing here is guessed. Anything the tool cannot measure is reported as unknown rather than filled in with a confident-sounding assumption, and the Google Business Profile section is marked as manual because reading a profile properly needs a paid API key. An audit that pretends to know things it cannot see is worse than no audit.

── Getting contacted ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[FAIL] No phone number found on the homepage
For a local business this is usually the single most valuable thing
         on the page.
[PASS] 1 form(s) on the homepage

── Local / GBP ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[FAIL] No phone number on the homepage
The phone number on your site should match the one on your Business
         Profile.
[WARN] No clear street address on the homepage
Name, address, and phone should appear as real text (not inside an
image) and match your Google Business Profile exactly, including
         'Suite' vs 'Ste'.
[WARN] No business hours found on the homepage
'Are they open right now' is one of the most common reasons someone
         checks a site.
[WARN] No link to your Google Business Profile or review page
A direct 'leave us a review' link is the single easiest way to raise
         review volume.
[PASS] Address or phone is in structured data
This is the machine-readable version Google prefers.
[PASS] Reviews or testimonials referenced on the homepage
[INFO] No Google Maps link or embed found
Not a ranking factor by itself, but it helps visitors and signals
         the location is real.
[INFO] No obvious city or service-area pages
Worth adding real pages for the towns you serve. They have to be
genuinely different pages, not the same paragraph with the town name
         swapped.

── Crawlability ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[PASS] robots.txt found and does not block the site
  [PASS] sitemap.xml found (22 URLs)

── AI search ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  [PASS] llms.txt found
Some AI assistants read this as a first-pass index. Low cost, modest
         upside.

── Measurement ───────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  [WARN] No analytics detected
Without analytics there is no way to tell whether the site brings in
business, which makes every decision about it a guess.

── Broken links ──────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
[PASS] No broken links in the first 5 internal links checked

── PageSpeed ─────────────────────────────────────────────────────────────
  [WARN] Performance score (mobile): 89/100
Google's own Lighthouse score. 90+ is good, under 50 is poor.
[WARN] Largest Contentful Paint: 2.8 s (mobile)
[WARN] Speed Index: 4.7 s (mobile)
  [PASS] Accessibility score (mobile): 95/100
Google's own Lighthouse score. 90+ is good, under 50 is poor.

[PASS] Best practices score (mobile): 100/100
Google's own Lighthouse score. 90+ is good, under 50 is poor.
[PASS] Cumulative Layout Shift: 0 (mobile)
[PASS] Total Blocking Time: 0 ms (mobile)

── Google Business Profile: the manual half ──────────────────────────────
The checks above cover the on-site signals. The profile itself cannot be read
without a paid Google Places API key, so run these by hand. Search the business
name on Google Maps, open the profile, and check:

[ ] Claimed and verified (no "Own this business?" prompt showing)
[ ] Primary category is the most specific accurate one, not a generic parent
[ ] Secondary categories used, and not padded with irrelevant ones
[ ] Address and phone match the website character for character
[ ] Hours correct, and holiday hours set
[ ] Website link points at the right page and is not a dead or redirected URL
[ ] Services or products list filled in
[ ] 10+ photos, and at least one added in the last 90 days
[ ] Review count vs the top three competitors in the local pack
[ ] Date of the most recent review (older than 3 months reads as stale)
[ ] Owner has replied to reviews, especially the negative ones
[ ] Q&A section has entries, and they are answered by the owner
[ ] No duplicate profiles for the same business

How to read it

What the four labels mean

01

[FAIL] costs you business today. A missing phone number, no HTTPS, a broken form. Fix these first, and they are usually quick.

02

[WARN] is worth fixing but not on fire. A slow score, missing hours, no analytics. Real money over months rather than today.

03

[INFO] is context, not a problem. Something the tool noticed that may or may not matter for your kind of business. No action implied.

04

[PASS] is on the report deliberately. Knowing what is already right stops you paying someone to fix it.

What you get that is not in this sample

Two things. First, a competitor comparison: name up to three and the report scores them beside you on the same checks, which is usually the most useful page in the set. Second, a short note from me at the top saying which two or three findings I would actually do first, because a list of 35 items with no priority is just a longer way of saying good luck.

And what happens after

You get the findings by email. Then one short follow-up asking whether you have questions, and that is the end of it. No call required to receive the audit, no drip sequence, no calendar link you have to book before you are allowed to see your own results.
